FPT Industrial laboratory receives recognition from the Brazilian government for the homologation of engines
Considered one of the most modern laboratories in the country, FPT Industrial’s engine emissions laboratory, located in Betim (MG), has been visited by the Brazilian Institute of Environmental and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the Environmental Agency of the State of São Paulo (CETESB). During the visit, several analyses were performed on its procedures and methodologies of testing, as well as a detailed examination of the site facilities.#
Following the assessment and actions for improvement, the FPT Industrial laboratory is now authorised to perform tests for the approval of emissions in industrial engines, in accordance with the standards and procedures of PRONCONVE, the Programme for the Control of Air Pollution from Motor Vehicles.
The FPT Industrial emission laboratory has two active dynamometers, able to run any industrial engine manufactured in Brazil delivering up to 1,000 hp. With all this new technology available, FPT Industrial becomes fully capable of performing all local development, calibration and emissions approvals.
The fully automated dynamometers, equipped with computerised real-time engine data monitoring, include sampling systems for gas emissions and a dilution tunnel with gas analysis bank. During the tests, it is possible to analyse the quantity of gases THC, NH3, CO, NOx, CO2, CH4, NMHC* and determine the Particulate Matter emitted during testing cycles, meeting the requirements of the Brazilian ABNT Standard 15634 (Highway Motor Vehicles - Analysis and determination of the exhaust gas according to the ETC, ESC and ELR cycles).
The equipment also allows the simulation of any engine operating condition, allowing validation and development tests of a large variety of applications.
THC (Total Hydrocarbons), NH3 (Ammonia), CO (Carbon Monoxide), NOx (Nitrogen Oxide), CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), CH4 (Methane), NMHC (Non-Methane Hydrocarbons).
