Iveco and Iveco Bus, the Company’s respective commercial vehicles and bus and coach brands, held an official vehicle handover ceremony in Milan. The brands’ combined contribution amounts to 64 vehicles. They will be used throughout the course of the universal event, which spans six months.

CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE: CNHI / MI: CNHI), an Official Global Partner of Expo Milano 2015, has taken a step further in its support of the international event being held in Milan, Italy from May 1 to October 31. The Company’s latest contribution to Expo comes in the form of 64 logistics vehicles from its Iveco and Iveco Bus brands. A number of the vehicles provided for Expo are equipped with alternative natural gas engines.

The official vehicle handover ceremony took place today. It saw the participation of Pierre Lahutte, Iveco Brand President, Giuseppe Tomarchio, Director General of the City of Milan, and Piero Galli, Director General of Expo 2015.

“We are incredibly proud to be here today with our range of vehicles: for us, Expo 2015 represents a unique opportunity to communicate the value of our vehicles through their practical work as part of this great universal event. The theme of Expo 2015 – 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life' – is in line with the messages of sustainability and respect for the environment which Iveco and Iveco Bus have always promoted as European leaders in the natural gas-powered vehicle sector”, commented Mr. Lahutte.

Iveco has supplied AMSA (Milan Environmental Services Company) – which manages the entire waste cycle, street cleaning and other essential environment and city maintenance services – with a total of 55 vehicles from its Daily, Eurocargo and Stralis ranges. These will be used for a variety of tasks, including street cleaning in the Milan city centre, waste collection services in areas around the Expo site and wet waste collection services.

Iveco Bus is the appointed supplier to ARRIVA ITALIA, the people mobility partner of EXPO. The brand has supplied seven Urbanway buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and an additional two New Daily Minibuses to provide transport services within the site. These vehicles are serving as the exclusive shuttles throughout the six-month event.

“The vehicles running on natural gas are already very green, and can now also be powered by biomethane, a renewable fuel produced from the biodigestion of biomass, agricultural waste, and the organic fraction of waste,” explained Lahutte. Biomethane is an important alternative fuel for CNH Industrial as it continues to pursue its mission to develop sustainable modes of transport. It is especially significant due its effectiveness in reducing CO2 emissions and its ability to satisfy the technological requirements set out by the European Union.

In its role as an Official Global Partner of Expo Milano 2015, CNH Industrial is present with a number of initiatives, which also include the Sustainable Farm Pavilion belonging to its agricultural machinery brand New Holland Agriculture and its sponsorship of the USA Pavilion “American Food 2.0” .

New Holland’s Sustainable Farm Pavilion is inspired by the brand’s Clean Energy Leader strategy and, in particular, its Energy Independent Farm project, which aims to reduce farmers’ dependency on fossil fuels and to incentivise the cultivation of bioenergy, such as biomethane. To symbolise the importance of biomethane in agriculture, the new T6 Methane Power tractor – displayed on the pavilion’s sloping rooftop to welcome visitors – is equipped with the same engine range as the methane-powered vehicles provided to Expo by Iveco and Iveco Bus.
