IVECO completes International Blue Corridor Rally and participates in International Gas Forum
The ceremonial finish of the Blue Corridor – Gas into Engines 2019 Rally took place on October 3 at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center during the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. The Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors, Viktor Zubkov, and the Chairman of the Management Committee, Alexey Miller, attended the ceremony. “The rally has demonstrated once again the effectiveness of natural gas as an engine fuel. Thanks to the efforts and the work done to create an infrastructure of filling stations, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is truly becoming the optimal solution for long haul missions,” said Alexey Miller.
The IVECO Stralis NP truck running on LNG has successfully covered more than 2,700 kilometers across Russia. The Stralis NP LNG is the only vehicle in the rally that can boast a range of up to 1,600 kilometers in distance without refueling – an impressive autonomy. The IVECO Daily minibus running on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) also achieved great results in the rally. The incident-free performance of both vehicles throughout the rally once again demonstrated the quality and reliability of IVECO’s gas powered solutions and their excellent adaptability to Russian conditions.
The annual Blue Corridor Rally makes a significant contribution to promoting the use of natural gas as an alternative engine fuel across the entire country. Commercial vehicles exhibitions, round tables and conferences were held in every major city on the route of the rally. In Moscow, a demonstration of filling the vehicles with liquefied natural gas was held.
IVECO`s participation in the rally demonstrated the benefits of commercial vehicles running on natural gas, as well as the future opportunities of using this type of fuel in long-haul transport. The company actively supports such events and promotes the development of natural gas distribution infrastructure in Russia and around the world.
After the Blue Corridor rally ceremony, IVECO took part in the 9th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, where it displayed a Stralis NP in LNG version.
The St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is the leading platform to discuss the current issues of the gas industry. Decisions taken by industry leaders as a result of these discussions directly influence the global gas market. A significant part of the Forum`s agenda is the development of the gas-powered industry, particularly regarding the development of the appropriate infrastructure and expansion of gas fuel applications.
Commenting on IVECO’s participation in the forum, Roberto Camatta, IVECO Business Director in Russia, stressed the importance of developing natural gas as a sustainable fuel for the transport industry and the need for coordinated efforts for all market players: “Active and concerted efforts of the government, public representatives and key market players, including IVECO as the largest and the most experienced manufacturer of gas powered vehicles, will accelerate the transition to the environmentally clean and economically viable fuel. At IVECO, we believe that gas technologies for commercial vehicles will be widespread in the near future.”
