6340 Terrus CVT complements renumbered 6290 Terrus CVT and 6315 CVT tractors / Model becomes largest in STEYR® line-up and most powerful STEYR tractor ever built / Revised in response to farmer input / Focus on comfort, power, efficiency and connectivity technologies
Responding to farmer and contractor demand for greater power and productivity to enhance efficiency at a time of rising input costs, STEYR® Traktoren is introducing a new flagship model at the top of its tractor range. The new 6340 Terrus CVT is the head of a revised set of three Terrus CVT models, and is not only now the largest tractor in the STEYR range, but also the largest STEYR tractor ever made.
Manufactured, like other Terrus CVT models, in the STEYR plant at St Valentin, Austria, the new 6340 Terrus CVT adopts the new numbering system introduced across other STEYR ranges, in which the last three figures describe the tractor’s always-available maximum horsepower without boost, rather than its rated horsepower as previously. The new Terrus CVT range comprises the 6290 Terrus CVT, 6315 Terrus CVT and the 6340 Terrus CVT. All are powered by an FPT NEF 6.7 l engine that, in the new 6340 Terrus CVT, provides 9% more power when compared to the 6300 Terrus CVT that formerly led the range. With the 6340 Terrus CVT, this 340hp is an unboosted power figure available under all circumstances. Maximum torque is 1,398 Nm at 1,400rpm. Despite its extra power, the 6340 Terrus CVT – which incorporates a new external engine blow-by filter that helps minimise service time – weighs the same as other Terrus CVT models, at 11,530kg unballasted, with a 16,800kg total permissible weight. Maximum rear hitch capacity is 11,058kg, while standard/optional hydraulic flow rate is 165/220 l/min.
All STEYR Terrus CVT models are available with Evolution or Excellence packages. Both offer a comprehensive specification including the Infomat 1200 touchscreen terminal, with the Excellence package adding additional features ranging from Power Beyond to premium speakers. The standard ISOBUS Class 3 configuration can be upgraded to Tractor Implement Management (TIM), the latest tractor-implement communications protocol, allows transfer of data to and from the implement to improve productivity.
The improved STEYR CVT transmission in the new 6340 Terrus CVT features upgrades to a number of key elements, including the hydrostatic unit, control software, driveline components, rear differential and the rear PTO. These enhancements have been made to improve component performance, productivity and efficiency without compromising durability and reliability. They are complemented by STEYR’s S-Brake System. Whenever the driver requests a speed decrease, either via the Multicontroller or by releasing the drive pedal, this estimates the deceleration force required by comparing target vehicle speed with actual speed, and adjusts the braking force applied with a measurement of transmission input torque, based on the flywheel torque sensor and Engine Control Unit data.
Protected by S-TECH Protect
Standard on the new STEYR 6340 Terrus CVT and the rest of the range is S-TECH Protect, which groups STEYR’s premium workshop, field and remote services to ensure maximum uptime. An all-inclusive package, it adds to the STEYR three-year extended warranty by enhancing connectivity, safety and cost control, and is designed to eliminate customer concerns about unexpected repair costs or downtime. In addition to the three-year official manufacturer extended warranty, S-TECH Protect minimises cost of ownership and comprehensively protects the customer’s investment.
Real-time services: S-TECH Connect
Standard with STEYR Terrus CVT tractors is S-TECH Connect, which provides real-time services, remote diagnostic tools, 24/7 Premium Service, a professional annual inspection and free owner/operator training, to help customers get the best from their tractor. They are also supplied with three years’ STEYR performance check (depending on market), to guarantee fitness for the coming season, for maximum efficiency and uptime. STEYR-trained technicians perform these checks at STEYR dealerships following manufacturer guidelines covering all critical tractor areas.
Five years of S-FLEET PLUS telematics
STEYR Terrus CVT tractors come with five years’ S-FLEET PLUS telematics subscription, enabling users to view, edit, manage, analyse and use precision farming data gathered during work operations. Owners can manage tractor fleets, monitoring the location of each tractor, co-ordinating logistics, optimising maintenance and enabling just-in-time refuelling, maximising productivity. The system’s telematics features also provide proactive breakdown support, customer remote assistance, maintenance reminders and machine history reports.
