CNH Industrial and Legambiente reunite for the Giretto d’Italia

Release Date: 16 Sep 2021
CNH Industrial Giretto d'Italia

For the seventh consecutive year, CNH Industrial returns to the saddle as Main Sponsor of the initiative promoted by Legambiente, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and organized in conjunction with VeloLove and Euromobility. The goal, as ever, is to promote the use of cycling and other electric micromobility solutions for commuting to work, as part of European Mobility Week (September 16-22).

The Giretto d’Italia celebrates its eleventh edition in a constantly evolving context. In the past year there have been many changes in terms of employees’ habits and mobility options, creating a more diversified context. The pandemic and related restrictions have further increased awareness and attention towards environmental sustainability, making people  more  informed  in  their  choice  of  transport.  In  addition,  commuting  has  fallen significantly due to the increasingly widespread adoption of remote working, which is better for the environment.

The event will take place on Thursday 16 and Tuesday 21 September, when volunteers will set up checkpoints to monitor employees who choose to commute to work by alternative means. All the Italian plants of CNH Industrial will participate in the initiative: Brescia (where medium-duty commercial vehicles are produced), Bolzano and Vittorio Veneto (defense and civil protection vehicles), Jesi and San Matteo (tractors), Lecce (construction machinery), Modena (components for agricultural vehicles), Piacenza (quarry site vehicles), Foggia (components for engines and transmissions), San Mauro (offices), Suzzara (light commercial vehicles) and Turin (offices and an engine and gearbox plant).

Daniela Ropolo, Head of Sustainable Development Initiatives at CNH Industrial, said: "The Giretto d’Italia is now a tradition for us at CNH Industrial, one that has endured since 2015. All of our Italian factories participate in the initiative and, year after year, we see an increase in the number of colleagues who enthusiastically support this sustainable competition on two wheels. The Giretto provides an opportunity for awareness and sharing of good practices. In fact, sustainable travel makes it possible to significantly improve quality of life, especially in urban areas. Our strategy is consistent with our actions and the Giretto d’Italia is a perfect example of smart mobility: citizen-friendly mobility with a low environmental impact."
