AE50: ASABE names innovations from CNH Industrial's agriculture brands among top 50 for 2016

Release Date: 20 Jan 2016
Case IH Axial-Flow™ 140 Series

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) have included two technologies from Case IH and six technologies from New Holland Agriculture in their annual AE50 Awards. This prestigious series acknowledges the year’s top 50 smart engineering product innovations introduced on the US market in 2015.

Case IH and New Holland Agriculture, the two global agricultural machinery brands of CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE: CNHI / MI: CNHI), have been included in the 2016 edition of the AE50 Awards. Determined and administered by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), the AE50 names the top 50 agricultural machinery product innovations to be presented each year. New product introductions are ranked each year according to the criteria of innovation, significant engineering advancement and impact on the market served.

CNH Industrial's brands have been helping farmers to bring food from fields to tables for more than a century. The Company continues to innovate in order to provide sustainable mobility solutions, increased vehicle efficiency and reduced emissions. CNH Industrial and its agriculture brands have worked closely over the years with ASABE in an effort to remain at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Case IH, CNH Industrial's global agricultural machinery brand for professional agribusinesses, finishes off the year with two spots on the coveted list for its Axial-Flow™ 140 Series Combines and Early Riser™ 2150 Front-Fold Planter. The redesigned "Cross-Flow™" cleaning and grain handing systems on the Axial-Flow™ 140 Series Combines provide significant increases in productivity. Included is a new transmission with electric shift capability and improved performance. In addition, the series features improved chopping configuration together with a new residue system that evenly spreads residue across a field and the new in-cab pivoting unload spout control for the unloading of grain. The new lightweight concave design has halved the weight of the previous model to just over 17 kilogrammes, making it easier to tailor the combine to different crop and field types. All of these new characteristics provide increases in efficiency and allow producers to harvest more acres per day.

Described by Case IH as the industry's most accurate planter, a machine used for planting seeds with automated row by row technology, the Early Riser™ 2150 Front-Fold Planter is engineered to operate at higher speeds to deliver fast and uniform plant emergence. Rugged in design, the new row unit it is built with heavy-duty cast components to handle high speeds and tough, fast-changing conditions, representing the latest planter technology available today.

New products from New Holland Agriculture, CNH Industrial's leading global generalist in agricultural machinery, were also recognised on the AE50 list. The IntelliCruise™ Feed Rate Control System (for the brand's BigBaler Series) controls the speed of a tractor when attached to a large square baler, allowing farmers to achieve optimal results and targeted operating capacity. The new T7.315 and T7.290 Heavy Duty tractor models offer increased power and versatility to perform a wide range of jobs and their Horizon™ cab provide precision technology that connects with other devices in a farm's operation to optimise efficiency and performance. The Flexi-Coil® P Series Air Carts set a new precedent for accurate and reliable air-seeding. Air-seeding is executed through an air stream created by a high capacity fan mounted on the cart which blows air through pipes, the seeds enter the pipe and are planted into a seedbed. New Holland's patented, independent, 24-volt electric-drive motors with integrated controls provide the flexibility to accurately apply seeds to the soil.

Key New Holland harvester features also received mention. The new Modular and Configurable Rice Concave, a part of the threshing mechanism on the CX range of combine harvesters, is quick and easy to change when harvesting different crops and ensures a high quality grain sample and efficient threshing. The Autofloat™ Sunflower Kit saves time when harvesting by removing the need for the manual adjusting of chopping height while going through a field. It does this through automation: hydraulically lifted choppers sense and react to the ground pressure and conditions, to keep constant performance and avoid damage that could be caused by bumps or stones. Finally onthe AE50 list from New Holland is the Dual Stream™ System, an attachment that mounts to the back of the New Holland Varifeed™ Grain Header. It allows operators to make a higher cut, removing only the top portion of the crop that contains the grain for processing in a combine harvester. This increases through put, as less material passes through the combine for processing, and it also reduces fuel consumption. The secondary cutterbar on the Dual Stream™ attachment makes a final, lower cut removing the remaining straw to the final desired stubble height all in the same pass.
