XMLAn official ceremony in the capital city of Santiago saw President Michelle Bachelet and the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Peñailillo,
take part in the vehicle hand over to 40 fire brigades, represented by over 500 firefighters. This shipment pertains to an order for 150 vehicles, which is to be completed by the end of 2015.
Magirus, the firefighting equipment brand of CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE: CNHI / MI: CNHI), has delivered 40 fire fighting vehicles to the Republic of Chile. These vehicles are part of a 150-unit delivery to Chilean fire brigades, which is to be completed within the year.
The handover ceremony, held on March 23, saw 500 firefighters from 40 fire brigades come together in O’Higgins Park in the capital of Santiago. The Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, and the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Peñailillo, were both present for the event. Antonio Benedetti, Managing Director of Magirus, conferred the vehicle keys to President Bachelet, who in turn delivered them to the brigade chiefs.
The long-term partnership between Magirus and the Chilean government is based upon the trusted technology and quality of the brand’s products.
Each supplied vehicle is built up on a chassis from sister brand Iveco. They feature Euro V engines with 300 horsepower and provide all-
wheel drive to ensure top performance, even in off-road conditions. The tank pumpers are equipped with a 4,000 litre water tank, a powerful Magirus MPN 230 pump and an additional portable pump to ensure water supply at all times. The vehicle is also equipped with Magirus’ AluFire 3 technology, which will be used for the first time in Chile. This technology represents one of the best technical solutions that the brand currently offers.
At the forefront of firefighting technology, the brand provides a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art fire trucks, ladders, rescue and equipment vehicles as well as pumping equipment. In 2014, the brand celebrated its 150 the anniversary at its headquarters in Ulm,
Germany, also home to its firefighting excellence centre.
