CASE Launches New SR270 and SV300: The Industry’s First Tier 4 Final Skid Steer Models with SCR Technology

Release Date: Feb-03-2015
CASE Construction Equipment became the first manufacturer to offer skid steer loaders with SCR
SR270 becomes industry’s largest radial-lift skid steer: new models feature best-in-class breakout force, torque, hydraulic flow and 360-degree visibility; no costly DPF to maintain; industry exclusives include standard heavy-duty front and side lighting, control handle detents to give the operator greater control and responsiveness.

CASE Construction Equipment became the first manufacturer to offer skid steer loaders with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology with the introduction of the SR270 radial-lift skid steer and the SV300 vertical-lift skid steer. The brand new SR270 becomes the industry’s largest radial lift skid steer with a rated operating capacity of 2,700 pounds at 90 horsepower. The new Tier 4 Final models feature best-in-class torque, breakout force and standard auxiliary hydraulic flow, as well as the industry’s widest cab with best-in-class 360-degree visibility.

The SCR engine technology found in both machines is a result of years of emissions reduction expertise by Fiat Powertrain Technologies (also a CNH Industrial company). Having proven itself in on-road trucking applications, and expanding into heavy earthmoving and agricultural applications, the technology has evolved to prove beneficial in even smaller engine ranges, such as skid steers.

“Owners and operators who get in the habit of topping off their diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank when they refuel will notice that there’s no additional attention required – it’s that easy,” says Warren Anderson, brand marketing manager, CASE Construction Equipment. “There are no daily or intensive maintenance efforts required by the new technology, no diesel particulate filter to maintain or replace – and owners will notice a more efficient use of the machine’s engine.”

The new skid steers weigh in at 8,117 (SR270) and 8,655 (SV300) pounds, deliver best-in-class torque of 282 foot-pounds and bucket breakout force up to 8,776 pounds. Rated at 90 gross horsepower, the machines include standard (24.2 gallons-per-minute (gpm)) and high-flow auxiliary (37.6 gpm) hydraulics for excellent power and attachment versatility. A 25.5-gallon fuel tank extends runtimes and ensures that the machine can work the entire day without refueling.

SCR: Easy, Efficient Tier 4 Final
Because SCR is an after-treatment system, it lowers exhaust temperatures and does not require unproductive fuel use associated with burning off particulate matter – great for larger engines. This offers a significant reduction in fuel use compared to systems with DPFs. This SCR solution is more efficient and requires less maintenance than DPFs, as it does not require filter replacement or upkeep. It also removes complexity for operators and maintenance staff by eliminating regeneration associated with DPFs.

Heavy-Duty Features
With the introduction of this generation of Tier 4 Final skid steers, CASE offers a number of heavy-duty features as standard equipment for optimal reliability in tough working conditions. This includes a heavyduty 950 CCA battery for consistent starts in cold weather, a more robust rear door for added protection, industry-exclusive standard front and side lighting for working all hours of the day, a block heater and an easily accessible remote jump-start – ensuring the machine will be ready to work throughout the year, day and night.

EZ-EH Controls Allow Flexibility
The SR270 and SV300 offer an EZ-EH (electro-hydraulic) setup menu that features nine adjustable speed and control sensitivity settings that can be adjusted on the fly. This allows the operator to match controls to their preference for comfort and greater productivity. A single rocker switch allows operators to switch between the CASE “H” operating pattern and ISO pattern controls. New operator handles with industry-exclusive detents improve controllability and feathering by providing greater responsiveness to the actions/movement of the machine.

The machine also features push-button Ride Control™, hydraulic one-way self-leveling, two-speed ground drive, and an advanced instrument cluster with programmable security and automatic shutdown as options.

Extended Wheelbase Increases Stability
The CASE PowerStance wheelbase provides excellent curb clearance and greater stability during lifting and hauling, which helps retain more material in the bucket. That stability also improves operator confidence when working on varied terrain. Additional counterweights can further improve stability and performance while also increasing the rated operating capacity by 100 pounds.

Comfort for the Operator
Like other skid steers from CASE, the SR270 and SV300 offer the widest cab in the industry. The cab is fully sealed and pressurized against noise, dust and fumes. The cab-forward design combines with ultra-narrow wire side screens to provide best-in-class 360-degree visibility and excellent site lines down to the bucket edge/curb lines. A large, rounded rear window improves rear visibility. Standard heavy-duty front and side lights, along with a skylight, further improve all-around visibility. The lowest step and entry threshold in the industry makes it easy for the operator to get in and out of the cab. The machine also features an optional radio and upgraded climate controls for optimal comfort.

Maintenance Made Easy
The engine, filters and fill points are all located at the rear of the machine for quick access. The battery is now housed behind its own side-entry panel at the rear of the machine for easy access and service. Both the SR270 and SV300 feature CASE’s easy-tilt cab for convenient access to the drivetrain compartment. Hydraulic quick couplers allow operators to quickly change attachments from the comfort of the cab, while Connect Under Pressure (CUP) manifolds require no tools to connect or disconnect hydraulic lines.
