CNH Industrial’s New Holland Agriculture Saskatoon, Saskatchewan plant in Canada recently achieved three million production hours without a lost time incident. The accomplishment marks three years and seven months without an injury to an employee that resulted in an absence.

The plant’s employees have proactively managed the working conditions on the production line, which eliminated lost time injuries.

“The facility employs almost 500 people, all of whom can be recognized in some way for their involvement in the safety programs,” said Seth L’Hoir, the Saskatoon plant manager. “Plant employees are empowered to identify conditions that could compromise safety and to submit suggestions for improvements, and then they help to implement those changes,” L’Hoir said.

The Saskatoon plant, the sole CNH Industrial manufacturing facility in Canada, produces planters, seeders, combine heads, cultivators and air carts. The site also includes a research and development center.

“The success of the safety program can also be attributed to the involvement with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and its Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certification,” said Shari West, Environment, Health and Safety Manager at the Saskatoon Plant. “Both systems are complementary and encourage continuous safety improvements,” West said.

CNH Industrial in Saskatoon will continue to strive to be a leader for safety in manufacturing.

CNH Industrial has 11 manufacturing plants, 12 research and development centers, and a workforce of 9,000 in North America. The Company designs, produces and sells ‘machines for work’ and is present in all major markets worldwide, giving it a unique competitive position.
