CNH Industrial Austrian plant achieves region's first world class

The facility achieved success during a recent audit by independent, trained auditors at the company’s plant, located in Saint Valentin, Austria. The facility produces agricultural equipment for the Case IH and Steyr brands.

The CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE: CNHI / MI: CNHI) plant in Saint Valentin, Austria has been awarded silver status for implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM), one of the highest global standards for the integrated management of manufacturing plants and processes.

Saint Valentin is one of 34 CNH Industrial manufacturing facilities in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region. It produces equipment for Case IH and Steyr, two of the Company’s agricultural equipment brands, and employs around 600 people. In addition to its capacity as a manufacturing facility, the site is also the EMEA Headquarters for both the Case IH and Steyr brands.

It is the first plant in the agricultural and construction equipment sector to receive a silver WCM designation in the EMEA region. Furthermore the plant now ranks among the top eight CNH Industrial facilities worldwide.

Following an audit by independent, trained auditors on May 27-28, the Saint Valentin plant earned the silver award for achieving production process excellence and for the extensive knowledge of WCM demonstrated by employees throughout the facility, especially on the shop floor. The facility earned the status just seven years after initially implementing the WCM program, which measures technical and managerial standards, for example safety, cost, environment and quality.

“This award is a great honour for our plant as it is a demonstration of the excellence, competence and passion of our team in Saint Valentin. All of us are dedicated to the products we are building and committed to improving our processes on a daily base.” said Andreas Kampenhuber, Plant Manager at Saint Valentin.

WCM is a system based on continuous improvement, designed to eliminate waste and loss from the production process. This integrated model for managing all elements of an organisation focuses on improving the efficiency of a company’s technical and organizational components while maximising market competitiveness. The widespread use of WCM principles at CNH Industrial plants allows the entire Company, totalling some 69,000 employees across 190 countries, to share a common culture based on efficient processes and on a language universally recognised across all plants and countries in which CNH Industrial operates.

Through precise methods and standards, WCM seeks to eliminate waste and loss by identifying objectives such as zero injuries, zero defects, zero breakdowns, zero waste, reduced inventories, and suppliers’ punctual delivery of parts to plants, and subsequently to dealers and end users.

CNH Industrial has 59 plants around the world involved in WCM, now totalling nine silver level and 18 bronze level plants.
