DB Regio Bus, Germany's largest bus operator, has extended the framework contract with Iveco Bus for the procurement of public transport buses, bringing the total of intercity buses to be supplied by 2018 to 1,000 units.
DB FuhrparkService GmbH, Germany’s largest operator of urban and intercity buses, has extended its framework agreement with Iveco Bus by two years, with a further 150 to 200 Crossway and Crossway LE buses to be delivered each year. This is the third consecutive time Deutsche Bahn trusts Iveco Bus with the supply of vehicles for its fleet, having awarded the first tender in 2013. As a result, a total of almost 700 Crossway suburban buses have been delivered to Deutsche Bahn to date.
DB FuhrparkService GmbH’s selection of Iveco Bus as Top supplier is the result of determining factors such as the advantageous Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and reliability of the Crossway range, undisputed European leader, which DB has experienced in its current fleet. Iveco Bus’s entire intercity range benefits from the exclusive HI-SCR technology, which achieves low emissions levels without exhaust gas recirculation and avoiding high-heat operation to clean the Diesel particulate filter. This HI-SCR technology provides multiple benefits to customers and is a competitive advantage for Iveco. The proven low fuel consumption of both engine series (Cursor and Tector) is another argument in favour of Iveco Bus.
Julian Dango, Iveco Bus Head of Sales & Services in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is particularly proud of having earned the renewed confidence of Deutsche Bahn: “Our presence in Germany has experienced an outstanding growth over the last few years, which has taken Iveco Bus to its current number 3 position in the market. This result is due to a great extent to our long-lasting partnership with Deutsche Bahn and their continued trust in Iveco Bus."
DB FuhrparkService GmbH and Iveco Bus are also breaking new ground in service by incorporating the parts supply in the framework contract to provide a complete solution.
"Modern, environmentally friendly and safe vehicles, together with our bus drivers, are our business card for the two million or so passengers we serve every day," explains Michael Hahn, Chairman of DB Regio Bus. "That is why this investment benefits our customers directly."
Serving approximately 608 million passengers in 2015, Deutsche Bahn is the largest bus transport provider in Germany. The Bus division comes under the DB Regio business area, and is therefore part of the company’s Passenger Transport department. More than 40 bus companies and stakeholders provide transport across Germany. Deutsche Bahn provides a transport service that guarantees regional intermodal mobility.
