Portable fire pumps are part of modern fire departments’ standard equipment. They have been used for decades to fight fires and transport water for fire extinguishing over long distances. At the Interschutz 2015 in Hanover, Germany, Magirus is presenting not only an innovative advancement to the tried and tested Magirus Fire 100 model, which is extremely popular with fire departments, but also an additional, completely redeveloped high-performance portable pump which offers the maximum level of performance: the Magirus Fire 2000.

Magirus Fire 2000, PFPN 10-2000

With a maximum water capacity of 2,000 liters per minute at 10 bar and a suction height of three meters, this pump clearly meets the requirements of the standard specification with a total weight of under 200 kilograms. It is powered by a 77 kW (105 hp) two-cylinder engine with 875 ccm of engine displacement. Those are just some of the newly developed Magirus Fire 2000’s impressive figures. The bottom line: this power-pack is the highest-performance portable fire pump in its segment, plain and simple.

Its powerful engine is manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automotive FCA and comes standard-equipped with an electronic starting device. To match the engine’s characteristics, Magirus developed a new fire extinguishing centrifugal pump from a high-quality aluminum alloy. Together with the new engine, the single-stage centrifugal pump achieves performance values not reached by any other portable pump designed pursuant to EN 14466 currently on the market.

And when it comes to user-friendliness, the Magirus Fire 2000 also can not be topped. The pump’s control panel is attached to the unit in an ergonomic position and is extremely intuitive to use. The fire extinguishing centrifugal pump, pressure and vacuum manometer, as well as outgoing pressure and suction hoses are all extremely easy to monitor. The perfectly-positioned fill nozzle makes it easy to refill the tank at any time. A pump pressure regulator and other options are also available, if needed.

The new, high-performance, portable pump is equipped with the tried and tested, fully automatic, and autonomous Magirus Primatic venting system. This system is activated by water pressure alone and is automatically deactivated after the suction process. As a result, it is particularly low-wear and reliable.

Thanks to a supporting frame which meets DIN EN standards, the pump can be stowed in any fire department vehicle. The pump is also equipped with a wrap-around frame with eight ergonomically placed handles for removal and simple, safe transport to the scene of a fire. This guarantees maximum safety and unparalleled comfort.

Magirus’s popular all-rounder is now even more powerful thanks to a new engine. In the future, Magirus will rely on a four-cylinder Fiat 1368 engine in lightweight aluminum design with a maximum power output of 57 kW (77 hp) for the Fire 1000. This engine is rated at 6,000 RPMs, and as a result, runs smoother than previous models. In addition, it is also equipped with an electronic injection system, which optimizes the combustion process thanks to more exact metering. Overall, this means increased performance with lower fuel consumption.

Together with Magirus’s proven fire extinguishing centrifugal pump, the portable fire pump achieves a water output capacity of 1,400 liters per minute at 10 bar with a suction height of three meters. Which makes the Fire 1000 the ideal pump for all-round use.
