New Holland has launched a completely redesigned combine maize header, which significantly enhances gathering and feeding performance for faster, more productive harvesting. Available in five, six and eight row flip-up versions and a 12 row rigid version, all headers can be fitted with the award-winning Cornrower system.
“These headers have been completely redesigned following customer input and have undergone rigorous field testing to ensure they deliver outstanding harvesting efficiency,” stated Hedley Cooper, Head of Harvester Product Management. “They have been designed to match the productivity and capacity of New Holland’s flagship CR and CX Elevation combine ranges, and also produce outstanding results when fitted to the CX5000 & CX6000 and TC5000 ranges.”
Roto-moulded row hoods retain more cobs
The dividers have been produced using advanced roto-moulding techniques and are exclusively constructed from plastic. This means that during aggressive harvesting they always return to their original shape. Manufactured using polyethylene, they effectively absorb the impact of falling ears and retain them, reducing ‘bounce-out’ losses. Furthermore, their grooved design directs loose kernels to the feeder and the replaceable wear strips extend their operating lifespan.
The shorter header points better follow ground contours to prevent ‘run-down’ of valuable crops, which is especially useful when working in terraces or in fields which necessitate tight turning.
Best in class stalk chopping
Optional, heavy duty integrated stalk choppers can be fitted for super fine chopping and spreading of mulched material, which is perfect for minimum or no-till operations. The cutting blade is situated beneath the header, and operators can engage each row unit individually to enhance operating efficiency.
Ultimate harvesting efficiency in laid crops
The unpredictable European weather sometimes necessitates harvesting laid maize crops. In order to maintain forward speed for efficient harvesting, the header’s front profile has been redesigned to expose the gathering chains. This system actively ratchets in the laid stalks to ensure a complete harvest.
Redesigned side shields increase harvesting productivity
The powered auger divider has been relocated to the outside of the side shields which reduces losses in standing maize, as all stalks are safely gathered and do not fall over the edge. When operating without the powered dividers, the concave shape of the side shields catch any falling ears and transfers them into the header for processing. This has dramatically reduced losses and will enhance operating profitability.
Flip-up and rigid versions deliver operating flexibility
Maize headers are available in both rigid and flip-up configurations. The twelve row rigid header features 70/75cm row spacing and is ideal for intensive maize operations. The flip-up five, six and eight row variants have been designed for transport intensive businesses which need to minimise productivity-impacting transport time. When folded, all flip-up headers comply with the stringent 3.5 metre transport width restriction.
Flip-up points for efficient servicing
During tight harvesting windows, servicing needs to be as quick and as efficient as possible. As such, all header points and dividers fold up effortlessly using gas struts for easy access for routine checks, servicing and cleaning. Moreover, the side shields are supported by gas struts and feature a latch which keeps them securely in position for increased safety. The dividers can easily be removed with no tools to gain unlimited access to the row unit.
Row guidance to enhance harvesting precision
To help reduce operator fatigue during long harvesting days, maize headers can be equipped with advanced row guidance technology. Using a sensor which detects perpendicular entry of stalks into the header, it works in collaboration with the combine’s auto-guidance system, for even more efficient harvesting.
Innovative Cornrower header: one-pass swathing reduces operating costs and improves bale density by up to 15%
The award-winning Cornrower header system can be fitted to all maize headers and offers one pass chopping and swathing functionality. The maize stalks are fed into a bank of knives which deliver a superfine chop. This chopped stover dries much quicker and can be used to make bales which are up to 15% denser. Moreover, the bales are cleaner, have a higher nutritional value and also require less labour to produce thanks to the one-pass system.
