Launched for the first time in Europe at Cereals 2014, New Holland’s popular T4 range has been enhanced with additional transmission options and improved operator comfort. The five model range, which was conceived with loaders in mind, produces between 75-114hp and delivers maximum torque of 457Nm. “In the competitive livestock and mixed farming segments, farmers are demanding increased levels of operational flexibility and comfort.” Stated Luca Mainardi, Head of Tractor and Precision Land Management Product Management. “That is why we introduced the Dual Command™ transmission with Creeper alongside New Holland’s renowned SuperSteer™ front axle.”

Extended transmission offering: Dual Command™ transmission with Creeper

New Holland’s acclaimed 24x24 Dual Command™ transmission, available on cabbed models, can now be specified with a Creeper option. This transmission is ergonomically engaged via a dedicated lever in the cab, the creeper function is perfect for vegetable growers or speciality operations, and delivers speeds as low as 130 metres/hour. This is in addition to the Dual Command™ transmission’s standard performance, which enables operators to shift between eight speeds in the three main ranges without the need to depress the clutch pedal. Furthermore, the Hi-Low splitter full load PowerShift™, which is engaged on the move, reduces forward speed by 15% and increases available torque by 18%.

A hydraulic Powershuttle version is now also available. Familiar to users of the T4 PowerStar™ and the more powerful TD5 range, this simple and robust system enables operators to positively change direction easily and efficiently.

Adjustable shuttle sensitivity: regulated direction control

Three aggressiveness-settings for the ergonomic column mounted Powershuttle can be swiftly and easily regulated on Dual Command™ models. A dedicated switch on the ‘B’ pillar enables users to select the soft setting for field activities such as baling, medium for standard work and the highly sensitive setting has been specifically engineered to offer almost-instantaneous direction changes for intensive loader work.

Mechanical park lock: super-safe stopping

The mechanical park lock has been designed for operations that work in very hilly terrain and which transport heavy loads. The system is mechanically engaged via a dedicated position on the range lever, and it mechanically locks to the gears to prevent forward or reverse creep when parked on slopes.

SuperSteer™ front axle: 65° turning angle for unsurpassed manoeuvrability

New Holland’s acclaimed SuperSteer™ front axle technology is now available on the T4 range. This system enables a 65° turning angle through the use of a dynamic front axle, which moves slightly forwards when turning to deliver unsurpassed manoeuvrability. This dramatically increases the efficiency of headland turns and considerably speeds up loader work.

Improved comfort and efficiency: baler bar and fender mounted linkage controls

Operator comfort is of paramount importance to ensure productivity at the end of a long working day. The T4 can now be equipped with a dedicated baler bar, which can be used to mount in-cab monitors, such as those used for balers and wrappers. Its location, to the right of the operator, means that it is in the ideal line of sight when working.

Optional rear fender mounted switches to control the rear linkage and PTO engagement are available. This enables operators to raise or lower the linkage and start the PTO without the need to continually get in and out of the cab. This significantly speeds up the hitching process, whilst simultaneously reducing operator fatigue.

The bank of switches located on the ergonomic Command Arc now features backlight technology. This makes selecting the desired control when working late into the night or during early morning  feeding even simpler. For an added touch of luxury, a coat hook is now standard.

For increased versatility, the overall height of the T4 range has been reduced by 40mm to facilitate access to traditional livestock sheds whilst maintaining the cab’s outstanding comfort and visibility.
