New Holland focuses on position as industry’s Clean Energy Leader at Salon International de l’Agriculture

Release Date: 20 Feb 2024
T6 180 Methane Power Tractor will be at Salon International de l Agriculture 2024 in Paris
  • Brand promotes alternative fuel solutions in agriculture with the T6.180 Methane Power tractor.
  • New Holland stand in Hall 4 located adjacent to GRDF, the main distributor of natural gas in France, to display advantages of biomethane use.

New Holland’s Clean Energy Leader strategy will be the focus of its presence at the Salon International de l’Agriculture (February 24th to March 3rdth 2024), where the brand will use its stand at the Paris Expo in France to generate awareness among institutions, politicians and the public about alternative fuel technologies already available as mature solutions to decarbonize agriculture.

For over 15 years, New Holland has led the way in producing alternative propulsion products that provide the agricultural industry with products and services towards its goal of sustainability. On its stand at the SIA, the New Holland T6.180 Methane Power tractor with Dynamic Command transmission, the first and still only CNG-powered tractor in the industry, launched by New Holland in 2019 and already adopted by customers around Europe, will take centre stage.

New Holland’s stand will be strategically positioned next to GRDF, the main distributor of natural gas in France. This proximity aims to promote the use of biomethane produced with waste and biomass. Using biomethane has a positive virtual circularity impact, and livestock and dairy farmers can produce biomethane from manure, resulting in a negative carbon footprint.

France is now the first producer of biomethane in Europe with more than 650 digesters injecting in the gas grid, 80% of them being 100% farm-based and many new projects are due to enter in production in the next 2 years.

Bio-CNG can also be accessible on farm with direct access to the gas grid (10.000 municipalities out of about 35.000 in France have a gas distribution network) or thanks to solutions that transform animal waste into gas through the slurry lagoon.
Animal and organic waste is a major source of greenhouse gases that can be captured and converted into an energy production through the Bennamann solution – the UK startup that developed a technology to capture the fugitive methane and upgrade it into a fuel biomethane aimed for power generation of mobility usage, of which New Holland’s parent company CNH acquired a majority stake in 2023.

For the 2024 edition of the SIA, New Holland will exhibit in Hall 4 alongside important private and public institutional organizations such as the Ministry of Agriculture, food safety agencies, research institutes and farmers’ unions.
