Release Date: 06 Nov 2023   |   St. Valentin
STEYR STEYR at Agritechnica

International public debut for 6340 Terrus CVT flagship / Plus series name returns in new mid-range offering with radical styling / Hybrid CVT tractor displayed publicly for first time / New finance options help challenge cost rises

STEYR® Traktoren returns to Agritechnica 2023 (at Stand A48 in Hall 3) with a number of new developments to show visitors at the first event since 2019, including the largest STEYR tractor ever offered, the return of an evocative name with the launch of a new line of mid-range tractors – and the public debut of the latest development in the brand’s drivetrain technology.

The STEYR Hybrid CVT tractor development, on full public display for the first time, has received a Silver Medal in the Agritechnica Innovation Awards, in recognition of the multiple concepts it incorporates that boost the efficiency of the tractor in which they feature. A development of the Konzept tractor displayed by STEYR at the previous Agritechnica exhibition, the Hybrid CVT tractor is a fully-working prototype combining multiple features never before seen in the tractor sector, and which boost efficiency and productivity in the field and on the road, with benefits both for the environment and for farm profitability.

Based on the 180hp (rated) STEYR 6175 Impuls CVT platform, the tractor’s drivetrain combines hydro-mechanical CVT drive to the rear axle and a hybrid module on the front axle, both of which can be combined with an intelligent 4wd clutch. With E-CVT, drive is hybrid-electrical at up to 75kW, which is produced at just 1,100rpm. E-Shuttling cuts direction change time by 41% and fuel use by 15%. E-Steering accelerates the front axle during field-speed turns, cutting turning radius by 15% for 20% faster maneuvering, while E-Boost provides additional electric power when needed, such as after slowing for a junction. E-Torque Vectoring directs torque to the front or rear wheels as required, for variable, on-demand 4wd, while E-Braking keeps tractor speed constant downhill, with super-capacitators storing electrical power. E-Torque Filling cuts the speed variation caused by hard/soft ground patches when working with soil-engaging implements, while E-Eco Mode reduces fuel consumption by 5-10% by combining electrical and CVT power during light tasks. E-Implement technology provides up to 75kW at 700V via a standard AEF port, to power implements and, where required, their wheels.

The largest tractor in the STEYR range – and the largest STEYR ever built – is now the 340hp (max) 6340 Terrus CVT, which complements the 290hp 6290 Terrus CVT and 315hp 6315 Terrus CVT. All models are powered by an FPT NEF 6.7 litre engine that, in the new 6340, provides 9% more power when compared to the 6315 Terrus CVT that formerly led the range. The 340hp maximum power is an unboosted figure available under all circumstances, while maximum torque is 1,398 Nm at 1,400rpm.

With five models from 80-120hp, the new STEYR Plus series that replaces the Kompakt range brings a revered name back to STEYR. Underneath striking new styling, the new tractors offer more hydraulic power, greater comfort from full cab suspension and a brake-to-clutch feature, plus a new front axle-mounted front hitch designed particularly to suit hilly conditions. All are powered by FPT F5 3.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged and intercooled engines with common rail fuel injection, and have a 40kph 24F/24R transmission with two-speed powershift and electro-hydraulic powershuttle, plus optional creep speeds. The S-Stop II feature allows one-foot drive disengagement and braking.

For those with interests beyond agriculture, the STEYR stand will also feature a 4140 Expert CVT fully equipped for forestry applications, and a 4145 Profi CVT tractor in Municipal specification, suited to working in highway and similar applications. Further STEYR developments on show will include an updated loader range, while visitors will also be able to experience the Connect Room, which will highlight the benefits of telematics and connectivity.

Agritechnica Financing Program with interest rate protection

With farmers across Europe facing interest rate and inflation rises, an Agritechnica special financing package from CNH Industrial Capital, starting from 0.00% p.a., is being promoted at Agritechnica to alleviate these pressures. Its features include interest rate protection until machine delivery, as long as the purchase is completed and the financing or leasing contract is submitted within the advertised promotional period.

To help counter the potential effects on cashflow of extreme weather conditions and unforeseen factors, and hence on originally-agreed repayment plans, some farmers may find it favourable to be able to suspend payments, while conversely, in better economic situations they may prefer to repay loans faster. Its specialist agricultural market knowledge has helped CNH Industrial Capital to develop CAPFLEX, designed for security and flexibility in such circumstances, and allow simple restructuring of instalment plans. Available to customers who subscribe to 24-84 month financing contracts via the STEYR dealer network, CAPFLEX has been also available for finance leasing contracts since June 2023.
